Two years ago, RXR set out to recognize the enslaved people who lived in New Rochelle with a request for creatives to write a poem that best encapsulates the city’s rich history. That review process ultimately resulted in the selection of a moving poem titled “Unforget” to be physically commemorated in Downtown New Rochelle for generations to come.
Last week, on the last day of Black History Month, RXR had the distinct pleasure of partnering with The Lincoln Park Conservancy, Inc. and the City of New Rochelle to honor the lives of the enslaved African American people in New Rochelle with a ceremony unveiling the poem on a permanent plaque at One Clinton Park.
